When the laptop decided to go ‘BOOM’ and die at the beginning of the week, it became quite apparent what is number one on my list of gadgets this week. Access to the internet.
What on earth did we all DO without the internet? When was the last time you turned it off and didn’t access it for 3 days? By that, I mean via any means – that means no cheating and peeking at it on your phone. Mine’s just a crappy old phone that dials up to the internet at the rate of a pound a minute or something daft, so even that was out.
Living away from all my friends and family it was like the outside world had been disconnected. No blog! No Twitter! No writing! So I’m very glad internet connection has now been restored. Phew. Next on the list is to save up for a new laptop and a phone that isn’t something Del Boy threw away.
2) This might sound a bit boring, but it has to be a washing machine next. With 2 young children the washing basket is always full, and I don’t fancy the thought of having to wash it all by hand. I’d still be washing clothes by next year at that rate.
3) The telly! Where would I be on a Saturday night without X Factor and I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here?! Can’t beat watching a bunch of has beens screech like girls at the trials. (Could live without watching the bugs and anus munching though.Vom.)
4) The torch. Always handy to have in case the power goes out and I need to read my books. (Very important to be able to read properly, especially if the power has chopped out the above entertainment!)
5) The mobile phone. What did we do before the invention of mobile phones? Oh yes, that’s right, actually turn up ON TIME. None of this ‘hellooo! Can you hear me now?! I’m on the BUS!” You just got there. Or whoever you were meeting would have got fed up and buggered off home!
