In order to raise awareness, Click Sargent for Children With Cancer are asking people to join in and write a post to promote their Yummy Mummy fund-raising week which runs from the 10th to the 18th of March.
The theme to write about is What Your Children Mean To You, and I am choosing to take the creative writing prompt, which is to imagine that they can’t be at home with you and how you would feel.
So I’ve got all creative and written a poem. 🙂
It’s chaos here, with all the noise and the laughter,
Two boisterous boys charging all around the place.
Throw their toys around, then don’t tidy up after
Don’t do as they’re asked, and then they laugh in your face.
Then at all other times they’re both as good as gold,
Helping out, playing nicely, perfect in their ways.
I might think that on the days when they’re being bold
I’m slowly, surely starting to go a bit mad,
Then when they’re away, not here the whole house seems cold.
It just isn’t the same, we’re feeling blue and sad.
No sounds of giggles, even the brotherly fights
A niggling, and empty emotion is had
Beds that aren’t slept in, bringing us long, lonely nights.
