There might be Cbeebies and Nickleodeon and about a million different channels nowadays to choose from, but even with only three or four we still managed to have the best kids TV.
Very early primary school saw me watching these:
Button Moon
Jamie and The Magic Torch:
Then who remembers this?! “She makes them look like a bunch of fairies, she’s got more bottle than United Dairies……..” Brilliant.
Supergran
Raggy Dolls
“It’s not much of a life when you’re just a pretty face, just to be whoever you are is no disgrace…”
Very wise words and very true!
Early teen years, I was more into sci-fi and my favourite ever programme I re-discovered a few years ago and loved to see again was this one:
The Girl from Tomorrow
A girl from the year 3000 ends up getting trapped in the present and has to stop an evil baddie, Silverthorn from destroying everything.
Funny how a piece of music instantly takes you back to years ago! *shivers* Brilliant series.
Did you watch any of these? There’s lots more, but I’d be here all day. Get other blasts from the past and see what others used to watch here http://saveeverystep.wordpress.com/2012/06/12/childhood-tv-classics-lifes-a-journey-link-up-week-22/
Supergran! Classic TV. I also remember Button Moon & Jamie and the Magic Torch, but you’ve got me with the last one! You’re so right about the theme tunes too. Thanks a million for taking part in the Link-Up. Don’t forget to enter your Post’s URL into the actual Linky at the bottom of my page! Invite some bloggy friends along!!
Oh you need to watch the last one, it’s great! Don’t know anyone apart from me who remembers it though, so will be interesting to see if anyone else does!
Have posted the link into the Linky thing. 🙂
Nice one!!!
Three or four stations! That’s luxury. We had one station but Watch with Mother was on every day and it was great, especially Andy Pandy!
Watch with Mother is where it all began – children’s TV wouldn’t have been what it is without Andy Pandy and Watch With Mother! Classic TV! 🙂
Bill and Ben. Pure unadulterated entertainment with absolutely no education.
Bill and Ben, completely didn’t make sense but great nonetheless! 🙂 Remember watching that on repeats (too young to remember first time round – oh I like saying too young! Doesn’t happen often enough! 🙂 ) *ducks and hides*
Strangely I remember that Bill and Ben did make sense to me. There was also The Woodentops with Spotty Dog *scissor strides legs to show who I mean* and Rag Tag and Bobtail and on Monday it was Picture Book. Ahhhhh! Those were the days!
I used to make my Mum rush home from infant school with me at lunchtime to watch Jamie and the Magic Torch. Also loved Pipkins, Rentaghost, the Tomorrow People and the Famous Five, as well as a spooky serial called Come Back Lucy.
