Summer doesn’t seem to have got started properly here this year as the weather has been so rubbish, but it’s already drawing to a close.
The evenings are getting darker, and the air a little cooler.
After saying that though, it’s definitely one of my favourite times of year.
Christmas is just around the corner (even though I do think that mince pies and the Christmas tins of chocolate shouldn’t be in the shops this early. Co-op, I’m looking at you.)
One of my all time favourite things to do at this time of year though is blackberry picking.
It’s fun, it’s free, and it’s something that everyone loves to do.
Even the newly turned teenager in the family who finds most days out “boring” nowadays.
Sigh.
So today we armed ourselves with a couple of plastic boxes and set off to see what we could find.
We found some lovely blackberries, which I was going to make a crumble or something with, but instead we’ve all just been eating them as they are instead.
Very yummy they were too.
Next time I may get to actually make something with them. 🙂
Do you go blackberry picking?
I always mean to go blackberry picking, but never seem to make it sadly!
You should definitely go, it’s great fun! Lots of free fruit. What’s not to like?! 🙂
I have never properly been blackberry picking but I always remember going to some places with my mum and dad when I was a kid and me and my dad used to get a few then, brings back so many memories 😀
We used to have a few blackberry bushes in our garden when I was a kid, I was always so excited to pick them and eat homegrown blackberries.
Loved picking them with my mum, lots of fun memories for me too 🙂
We’ve had some really lovely summer days though I’m not sure I’m ready for them to be over again just yet.
The kids have already been blackberry picking with their childminder.
I love going blackberry picking. I tend to freeze them and keep them for a winter crumble 🙂
I love blackberry picking but we haven’t yet this year. Nothing is nicer than fresh blackberry crumble!
We have been lucky this summer, as we have travelled around southern UK a lot and caught the best weather! I do love going into Autumn though. Kaz x
I’d absolutely LOVE to go blackberry picking. I think theres one in my garden actually but I’m scared to pick them incase they’re poisonous haha xxx
If you do indeed have a blackberry bush in your garden, get picking! 🙂 Blackberries very identifiable and definitely not poisonous lol
Oh definitely go ..it’s so much fun to pick berries …
