On entering school this morning, it was great to see lots of little snowmen dotted around the playground where the children had been playing out at breaktime.
It got me reminiscing about when I was at primary school, and how when it was snowy and icy we used to build a big ‘ice slide’ running from one half of the playground to the other.
What you used to do was take a long run up to the slide, then you used to skid the entire length of the slide on your knees. ‘The Elf and Safety zealots about today would have passed out if they’d have seen us.
Which is why it was so refreshing to see all the snowmen in the playground, which the 8 year old informed me people were making at breaktime yesterday.
As certain playground games are banned such as Tig for the Infants, it wouldn’t have surprised me if they all had to sit inside doing colouring sheets if there was snow covering all of the playground.
I wonder if they’d get away with doing ‘ice slides’ nowadays though……
No ice slides at our school and no snowmen either just lots of untouched snow thats begging to be assembled into something.
Aw, it was lovely seeing all the snowmen dotted about! 🙂
I can’t leave untouched snow alone, you’re stronger stuff than me if you can leave snow untouched – I’d have had to go do footprint patterns in it or something! 🙂
Would love to put footprints in it but its a fenced off area for the reception kids and they only open the gate at home time 😦
Spoilsport teachers -Now if I was a teacher, I’d be like the Pied Piper with all the kids in a big jumping, dancing line behind me so we could all squish snow patterns in with our feet! 🙂
Wet play at our school. Not a snowman to been seen!!! The worlds gone mad!!
Oh no, wet play not half as much fun as snow play 🙂
